Want to Drive Traffic to Your Site? Use Video

Video is an underused medium for driving traffic. Few people realize that YouTube.com is the number 2 search engine! Especially when people want to know “how-to”, Youtube is the site they will search first, often even ahead of Google.

Now many people get downright uptight when you mention making a video. They worry that they are not young enough/pretty enough/glamourous enough to make videos. Nonsense! Unlike on t.v. or the movies, people viewing videos would rather see real people who can give them the information that they are looking for rather than someone who looks good but offers little in terms of real information.

You might think that you need to invest a lot of money to make videos, but the truth is that you don’t. You can use a simple hand-held flip camera, which can be found for $100 or less, or use the built in webcam that comes with most computers now a days. You do not need expensive software to make videos. Cam Studio is a free program that you can use to record videos, or you can use Windows Movie Maker which allows you to do some nifty editing tricks.

If you are camera shy, you can simply add a still picture of yourself at the beginning of your video. This gives you more credibility, as showing yourself instills a sense of trustworthiness from your audience. A very simple way to create videos is using articles you have written and PowerPoint or a similar program. Skim through your article, and create a PowerPoint with bullet points from highlights of your article, and simply read the entire article and record it.

Don’t convert your entire article to PowerPoint. I’m sure that you have suffered through a PowerPoint with enough content to rival War and Peace before. It’s boring and tedious.

Make sure that your website address is present in the first frame of your video. Keep your video short and to the point. As the search engines cannot “read” video, make sure that you take the time to fill out the description and tags section when submitting your video. A hint to help your video get found by the search engines is to go back after it is published and copy and paste your article into the description box. Not every video submission site will allow you to do this, but if they do, take advantage of it.

If you want to take the lazy route and just use videos to get back links, there is nothing easier and faster than Article Video Robot. You can take an article that you have submitted to the major article directories, such as EzineArticles.com, and convert it to video with a single click. Or you can choose to use the full-editor for more control over the final result.

The videos made with AVR are not pretty, but if you are only looking to get back links from high PR video sites, they fit the bill. You can customize them by narrating them yourself, or choosing one of AVR’s computer-generated voiceovers. You can also add your own pictures and music if you choose, or use AVR’s stock pictures and music. AVR can then automatically submit your video to 17 sites, including YouTube with the click of a button. AVR’s Dynasubmit feature spins your video title and description to make them more unique for the different video directories.

You can test drive AVR for free for 14 days before making a commitment. If you choose to subscribe, grab this coupon code (69ED54CE) to receive 50% the monthly subscription fee. This can bring the cost of subscription down to as low as $23.50 per month, which I feel is a great value for the service.

Give it a try; you’ve got nothing to lose. Make a video, and be shocked how fast it gets indexed, and often shoots straight to the front page of Google.[TEMPLATE]Wordpress Magic Horizontal Banner[/TEMPLATE]
